In this work, I explore the delicate, often invisible tension between mental wellness and depression. A rough granite stone, representing the emotional weight of lived experience, is precariously held suspended by a single red thread, stretched taut against an empty white space.
The minimalist setting isolates the subject, intensifying the visual metaphor; a balance that feels both controlled and constantly at risk of collapse. The red thread, fragile yet essential, represents the coping mechanisms, therapies, support systems, or internal resilience that hold one together, not always seen, but vital.
Beneath the suspended stone, a shadow lingers, suggesting that even when one appears to be managing, the presence of darkness remains. This work challenges the viewer to reflect on the invisible efforts of emotional balance and the quiet tension many live with daily.
At once serene and unsettling, the image invites empathy and awareness; a visual distillation of what it means to hold oneself together, sometimes by a thread.
