Welcome to my wonderfully weird world of marvellous mechanical contraptions. My artwork is inspired by an inventive and curious mind, a dash of nostalgia, a soupcon of Utopian Edwardian charm and a large blob of humour and bewilderment.
When it's time to 'build' my contraptions I source the various components from my virtual collection. A collection built up over time from visits to curious places, museums, archives and just roaming around. If I find a rusting tool in a forgotten toolbox I see a connecting rod, or maybe I see an old bicycle chain as a conveyor belt.... Copper pipes, cogs, springs and unidentified widgets all play a part in my weird world.
Oh, and sometimes, I get to dress up as the 'Victorian gentleman' which can't be bad either!

Professor Percival Wobblecog von Boilerplate is widely regarded (by himself) as one of the foremost minds in the field of spontaneous steam-based invention. He first rose to public attention after the unfortunate incident of the Self-Feeding Trouser-Press, which was intended to gently steam-crease one's trousers during breakfast but instead catapulted Lord Dinglebury into a rhododendron bush wearing only toast.
Born into mild confusion and a family of amateur kettle whisperers, Prof. Wobblecog von Boilerplate’s curiosity was sparked early when he accidentally welded his nursery door shut with a teacup warmer and half a marmalade sandwich. A life of dubious genius followed.
His beloved company, The Marvellous Mechanical Contraptions Company (very Ltd), operates from an overclocked Victorian greenhouse filled with gears, gadgets, and occasional low-level hissing. Among his more notable inventions are the Bean-O-Tron Radigrow 5000, the Caffinatrix Espresso-Bot Delux and the CaninoMotivator Pupmobile Mk IV.
At his side is his loyal companion, a whippet named Sir Zippatron, who wears brass goggles and once accidentally triggered the prototype Chrono-Scone Reversifier, causing teatime to loop for three hours. Sir Zippatron, unbothered, simply napped through most of the temporal distortions under his blanket.
Professor Wobblecog von Boilerplate is currently working on a Self-Cleaning Cravat that unfortunately keeps trying to launder the neighbour’s cat.
